Processing a RAW file for display is like developing a physical negative - there are many ways it could be done and we don't want to make any strong assumptions on the photographers behalf. Folks who care enough about shooting raw probably also care about how the image is developed :] Our very brief take on it: raw files are tricky because we can't reasonably infer the photographers intent for processing and displaying the image.
